well, i just screwed what might have been a great opportunity at a great company with a recent capital injection by Uber.

I don't know what the hell my brain was thinking when answering at the technical interview, like wtf? they asked for an use of design patterns, and i started thinking for uses in my daily life (???), like, outside of work?? to which of course i answered "no, I can't think of a time I have used them" 🤡🤦🏻‍♂️

They asked what motivated me to work at that company, and I basically answered "money and free education perks" 🤡

The worst part is that they contacted me! So for some reason I was pretty sure that I would ace that interview with flying colors. Yeah well no, fuck those expectations.

That's what you call a brain fart.

Don't worry man, learn from it and move on. If this company contacted you, others probably will too.

Well, the second answer was honest. You are not supposed to work for free

Meh, it happens to us all. My worst moment was being asked what I do outside of work to keep up with the latest technologies, and said something like:

"Hey, that's what long, boring HR meetings are for!"

....yeah, not the best answer, especially when HR is present...

For outside of work you CAN apply design patterns and algorithms. You probably do this innately. For instance, you can find the end of a pipe doing binary search.
