I need some help from you guys. I'm in search of a cheap, little webhoster for classic and (hopefully) node projects. Is there something viable out there, I missed on my research?

    ... also I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask smth like that, I'm new on devRant, but I feel we're all in the same boat, and I like this boat.

    @unrealchrisp This is a fine place to ask a question like that; one of the Web Devs is sure to have a suggestion. Welcome to DevRant!

    I'm not sure but have you looked into openshift ?

    Thank you for your kind words. I already came along digitalocean and openshift, but was in hope for some other 'underdog' services. But thanks anyway (:

    Google Cloud or Linode

    Lots of (AWS, Google) cloud providers have free tiers. Try that first for your pet projects.

    Heroku is free for small under development apps. And it's container oriented, so no need to setup a Linux node or anything

    Vultr (equal to digital ocean)

    @liammartens
    I can really recommend Vultr too

    I've worked with openshift and heroku so far, and both have free tiers that are great for development andcare easy to setup.

    Been working with webfaction for about 2 years, could not be happier with their service and support.

    AWS is just amazing, the pricing is ridiculously unbelievable and no need to say it can scale up to some crazy stuff like Instagram or the Amazon itself.
    maybe not as straightforward as Heroku or Openshift at first, but it'll pay off in the long run...

    I'm on AWS. My bill is 0.5$ / mo for simple static landing page.

    Nearlyfreespeech.net.

    You aren't gonna believe me, but I have hosted a single HTML-only page for 2 months for less than $0.01

    @pinebit @DeveloperACE AWS can be that cheap ?! Wow.

    @pinebit really nice price, but you don't have SSH access to the server, do you? Like, it's not ec2, it's just s3 storage with DNS setup, right?

    @HoloDreamer it's not AWS.
    Http://nearlyfreespeech.net is basically an only-pay-for-what-you-use host

    If you want to try Vultr, you can use this link:
    http://vultr.com//?ref=7015002-3B

    It gives you $20 when you charge the account with $10 and have a server running for a month.

    You get $20 and I get some money too ;)

    @lucas22 right, but this works well for "hobby" projects. For Business there are better yet pricy options.
