@12bitfloat That is the point. Captivity to the tech. So we start to "like" it. Honestly though, I like CSS. I can generally achieve what I want fairly painlessly.

@junon Cassowary is kinda awesome but unfortunately also pretty slow. IIRC you can't get it better than O(n^3) where n is the number of constraints

@12bitfloat Can you show me proof of that? For practical uses cassowary (nucleic/kiwi specifically) has been very fast.

@junon Probably not and looking through the original paper, 900 constraints took around 8 ms to resolve (partially cached) on a 1998 IBM Thinkpad 760EL (133 Mhz Pentium 1 lol)
But I also know that Flutters layout alg is explicitely O(n), so I don't know

CSS is utterly retarded but I can’t help but be impressed by how well the DOM still works in this day and age. The fundamental structure hasn’t changed since the 90s.
