There should be a devrant Meetup one day. Basically The community just gets together, rants about stuff to each other but in person so we all meet our social interaction requirements for the year. Then we could buy swag and sit on our computers and work on our personal/group projects. It would give devs a great excuse to take a vacation once a year.

Definitely! Like @Yankeesrule said we did one once before, but it's definitely time for another one.

The problem we always have is our userbase is so geographically diverse, which is awesome, but is a hindrance when it comes to trying to do any kind of big meetup.

We're open to ideas of when/where/how, but at the very least we'll probably have something in NYC soon. But we also really want to include our international users!

What on earth is "social interaction"?

@dfox maybe there's a way around the location thing- sort of. Plan the meetup at a time when it's realistic for as much of the world as possible. Say, 3pm eastern which is noon pacific, 9pm Central European. Then each area can setup their own meetup at an individual bar and each one can be live streamed so we can at least say hi to each other.

The hard part would be finding someone in each area to head up organizing and reserving a space. But if you setup a google sheet and announced it at the top of devRant it could probably get enough attention that hopefully people would take the initiative.

@dfox if there is going to be some event in NY could you guys post it up well in advance? Geographically challenged individuals can probably make it alot easier with the possibility of planning.
