@ScribeOfGoD Yeah that's a pretty valid reason! Just wondering what peoples views on this subject are :)
-
ChappIO46938yIt's 100% about convenience.
Because google 'knows' what you think they make predictions for you. Making sure you dont really have to think. -
@linuxxx I just use it because I like it over firefox. I use Firefox on my tablet because chrome like to use alot of battery, I dunno if they fixed that yet though
-
Because they don't provide ready to install builds for chromium In Linux there are chromium builds available, but for win there are not official ones. It is a very smart way of keeping a project open source and have some part which is proprietary. Also Google Chrome has auto updates which is nice to have.

@rjcrystal Since when is that? A friend of mine always downloads it right from website for windows. I'll ask him where he gets it from, wondering now
-
@ScribeOfGoD They said they would in the last update but a friend migrated to Firefox now because it broke his chrome kinda. It consumes about 1gb ram for just few tabs now on his windows. For other mates about nothing changed
-
@linuxxx there are builds but they are not from google. Some developer has setup a build bot to build versions of chromium. Here is the link
https://chromium.woolyss.com -
Chromium is missing a few things- I tried to switch to it at home but it couldn't play Netflix; it's missing some sort of DRM feature that NF requires.

vhoyer13318yit's becuz chrome has the colors, while chromium is all blue.
I bet it's because of this 😂😂

No offence to anyone but I'm wondering why so many people go for Google chrome while chromium browser provides about the exact same browsing experience and speed etc but without Google's proprietary tracking shit. I know not everyone cares about their privacy but still wondering.
