I'm getting started on web development again. But I want to get the right tools for the job. I don't hate Dreamweaver. But I know there's got to be something better out there for me to use.

Sublime FTW.

Any text editor. I personally use coda on mac (ide). Dreamweaver is for spunk martians.

Is there not a program that lets you see things change over time?

If it's for purely client-side, WebStorm is the doggie do-dos. If you need something free, either VS Code or Sublime should do well.

Haven't used Dreamweaver in years, but it used to be serious bloatware, like everything Adobe touches.

Anything but dreamweaver. Personally I use Atom, but I've heard some good stuff about Brackets if you're main focus is web dev.

@tisaconundrum webstorm is pretty great for JavaScript. Visual studio for asp.net. PhpStorm for php. Not sure what language you're using.

Its been around 1 year in web dev for me and I'm fucking loving SUBLIME TEXT

I have used Dreamweaver and Sublime in the past and while they were okay, I knew I was never going back to them when I started using Phpstorm.
