@TktStatusPICNIC Its a zip file with XML files defining the document and it's schema.
-
.X format are all zip files, try opening one with our achiever of choice or looking at the file headers.
-
@TktStatusPICNIC aren't you mixing it up with postscript files? I heard they made fonts as executables since a foundry cannot patent a typeface, but they can patent a program.
-
@TktStatusPICNIC former office dev here, the legacy formats (doc, xls) are binary. They're rooted in taking the in memory representation and persisting it to disk. That breaks down as new things are added. Modern formats (docx, xlsx) are XML and pretty fun to work with. Both are heavily documented and punished before major releases/changes if you're interested!

RakNoel6708yIntresting to test. Try to copy all from that document to a new one and see if the size changes o.O

@RakNoel how i know microsoft, i'm pretty sure if you copy the contents directly from one word file to another the metadata (undo history, etc..) gets copied too. Gotta love em fucking safe computing.
