Here's my formula, which seems absolutely nuts to some, but works for me:
1. Find something you really want to work on. This might not be easy, but take your time and think of something that excites you.
2. Don't work on this exciting idea. Instead, immediately take a break for a few days.
That way you have a good break from things to give your mind a rest, but you're also looking forward to starting an exciting new project.
If I just do 1 without 2, I find myself just getting bored and frustrated again really quickly. If I just do 2 without 1, I take a break but then always dread going back to work on the same old crap. -
Depends what you can manage!
These days not much more than a week off work at once is feasible for me - but these days I pace myself to the point I very rarely feel like that anyway.
It happened more when I was a student and fresh grad, and then it was easier to just take a couple of weeks as a break, so I tended to do that. -

Last time this happened I took a OOO and completely dropped all of my electronics for the entire day. It was goooood.
Sometimes I just get bored of everything. It all feels burdensome and I don't even feel like touching the keyboard for days. Don't know if this happens to everyone? If it does, got any tips?
