It would be like if you got down on a backend dev for constantly using the words "for" and "if".

And man, you would not want to see my CSS... you think one layer of repeated specificity is annoying... whoa boy.

it's about repeating declarations across multiple files that eventually have to leak to other places. It could be all perfectly fine with just a sprinkle of BEM.
