Why, just why, in the the world would you populate an ENTIRE excel workbook for it to serve as a database!

"It crashes, fix it"...

Shit doesn't even open man!

Because it's all they know. Excel is used for the strangest things.

@Jumpshot44 right? it pisses me off! Sure Access does take a little more time to set up but at leat its built for that particular purpose and doesn't crash that often geez...

@aronmik it's painful seeing, especially when a lot of fields are repeated, they can make use of an actual database and OOP, but no ... how are you handling this? I mean thanks to them I hate excel haha

@MarShal I was so sick of them making request for new Excels I made a class in wich they themself can acces values in format and give these values for their target group. But then I still recieve complaints like its not working. I open the template they created and they got 4 times the same database reference and expecting different results

@aronmik I was thinking of doing the same thing to be honest, but I have several more interesting things I'd rather spend my time on. Besides all I keep getting is budget budget budget, which btw 75% of which goes into maintaining those horrible databases. But what do I know, let them waste it 😂

I once done a hackathon with some construction professionals you should have seen their face when I showed them a postgres database with 30 of their "databases" (spreadsheets) and wrote a simple select query.

You could actually hear the penny drop in their head.

@thickSkull yup better believe it, ever seen a 120MB excel file? I didn't even know it was possible for them to come in that size, its depressing
