@donuts I'm sorry, it sounded quite differently on the rant so my response, may have been a bit harsh and out of place. Mostly when you get to the 50 dollar mark/per month in in-game purchases it's time to change the game. The game itself at that point is usually more annoying than satisfying.

The example between food and in-game currency is slightly warped, tho. Since one is physical goods, and the other is an integer alteration in the database.

And about the other question, buying my way out of a problem. Depending on the "frame" I'm doing it right now. Money is short since I'm paying for my gf to finish up on her Bachelor's. So yeah, the urge is always there.
