    It sounds so normal compared to "My friend who is a doctor doesn't know how to treat people" or a Pilot, or any other profession.

    What’s wrong with that? He builds hardware, not software

    His probably a support engineer you dont need programing skills if u are looking after systems

    I know at least a couple engineers who've attended uni cs classes, and understand all theory, but can't actually write code

    Are we talking about a dev though? A computer engineer could mean anything from a support guy to a dev to a CPU engineer. Contrary to what some people seem to think, it doesn't mean you know "everything there is to possibly know about computers"

    He should fix that asap. He doesnt need to be a software dev. But he should get the idea and limitations. The best QAs, POs and PMs are the ones who know at least a bit about good software under the hood.

    @TeachMeCode so in our curriculum(which sucks obviously) for Computer Engineering, 80% courses are programming based. And after 4 years of Bachelor’s if someone’s not having basic knowledge about that, I feel kinda furious

    @nine ok makes sense

    @nine that also depends on the Cv no?
    Here there is a difference between a Computer Engineer, Information Technologies and Software developer, each of those has its own curriculum, and a lot of people confused them.

    As a programmer, do you know how to build hardware? No? Fuck off then

    @YADU I would highly encourage you to give a bit more time that you devoted in commenting to read one of my comments where I explained what a Computer Engineering curriculum is like for us :)

    @nine ah, I thought this was the hardware-focused kind of engineering, if 80% of courses are programming based and they still can't, well...

    I know people who did full CS degrees and can't program for shit though
