So sad they never continued "The Matrix". That story had so much potential for an epic trilogy.
-
nibor48134yIf we ignore part III, godfather. Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, except it was only a (badly named) trilogy in book.
Terminator, but the third was pants.
Lord of the Rings maybe -
Voxera113884yI will have to await judgment until end of time Then before answering, I have not seen the trilogies yet to come and the already existing might not stay trilogies.

10Dev28534yOriginal 3 Star Wars (IV, V, and VI) were pretty good.
Sadly, Disney has tried to squeeze even more profit out of a raisin with the sequel trilogy and the likes -
@10Dev The problem wasn't that they tried to squeeze out more profit. The problem is they tried it with a jackhammer while throwing feces towards everyone who gave them money for it.
Disney's uncompromising greed and incompetence is a larger threat to the Star Wars universe than the fucking death star. -
@AtuM Maybe I'm missing something, but afaik Kill Bill is not a trilogy, it is in fact more a single long movie split up into two. And they actually once showed a cut of it that was just a single movie combining both.
That said you're right about most trilogies, but imho Lord of the Rings was a big exception to that rule. It's one of the few gems where they managed to keep it together until the end.
And then the Hobbit trilogy proved how exceptional LotR's quality was.
