hjk10157314yThis has nothing to do with the disagree and commit principles.
It sounds like they use the commit step as an excuse to make you just do what you are told after they veto a decision.
The commit step should be after there is real discussion and the most sensible decision is agreed upon. It might still not be everyone's cup of tea and those feelings should be set aside. That is what it's for. Preventing undermining the effort. Fully committing to a course that is just plain stupid is never good and should most of the times be prevented by the disagree step. -
Disagreement will always exist.
It's not the disagreement that makes me furious.
It's the "we've had this numerous times and you still didn't learn your lesson" part.
I hate the sentence "Told ya.".
Because it's the epitome of blame game, being sassy and just a smarty pants.
When I use that sentence it's usually end game.
It means my tolerance has worn so thin that I don't respect my own moral code anymore.
It's "Fuck everything, time to burn this place down and take as many with me as I can" time. -
Their comments are worthless to you unless they're actually causing you grief day to day.
CEOs and top level execs say random crap all the time. If everyone upped and left every time someone 10 levels above them said something stupid, we'd all be gone. If you enjoy working in your team day to day, then stick at it. If you don't, then look elsewhere. -
dan-pud8594y@AlmondSauce I am a top level director (essentially CTO). I absolutely love working with our development teams. Some of the best people I've worked with and I've personally hired every one of them.
Being asked to do things quick and dirty to fulfill a commercial obligation that someone else made goes against my principles.
