TL Dr :- Debugging a software I barely know about was slow and ended up breaking in the shop it was used in and reverting the changes does not solve the problem

I asked my father a few days ago why he was buying a dedicated server for his ERP software and not using a client computer as his server which he is doing in his shop currently. He said that it was slow on other computers in the LAN which is an wired. The solutions given by the company that made it did not work. Big bills would sometimes also dissapear which took around 30 minutes to make. So when he bought the computer to home during lockdown I pulled up the debugging guide from the company which summed up to check latency, ram and add these files to exclusion list of your antivirus. Latency was kinda high at the first when pinging another computer on the LAN but I was testing on WiFi so it could be pretty inaccurate. The computer met the ram requirements so that was not a problem. I checked the data path by opening the software and accidentally typed something but I did not worry since the changes needed to be manually accepted. I added the files to the Windows defender exclusion list and shut it down.

Next day :- My father calls me up and says the software is working on the server but is broken on other computers. So I check if the changes were automatically accepted for some reason and yes that happened. So so pull up a guide to configure the software in multi user mode and I replace the mistyped setting with the correct one and it still does not work. My father asks me to undo everything by using anydesk. I remove all the exclusions I added to Windows defender and disable windows firewall. Still does not work. Restart the computer and software. Still does not work. Check permissions on data folder. They are correct.

WTF I reverted all the changes I made and the software does not work on other computers.

@SuspiciousBug Probably not. Probably another misconfiguration that I don't remember or something else. I have sent an email to their support detailing what I did and what I rolled back. Hopefully they can help. Also I am unable to install new network drivers since he ones from Dell(the manufacturer of the computer) fail. They do have a pirated version of windows so that might be a problem.

Sounds like a good time to migrate tona good ERP

@mundo03 There is no good reason to migrate to another one. The software is as prevalent as excel here and we won't be hitting the limits for a pretty long time. Also there might be something so missed to revert and that caused problems. Support was pretty helpful. They will help us in 2 business days because my father is bringing the computer home that day so they can RDP in. They cut their connection to the ISP a few years ago. Their call centers opens at the time when we close the shop.

Also fuck the police here. They don't enforce the lockdown so some shops open here. Now my parents shops need to open too since the customers will go to them. There is no law for this and if they get caught they need to pay up. Also the shops need to play hide and seek as a result. The lockdown is going to open soon so at least this won't continue for long

Update :- Tally support might have fixed it yesterday by turning sharing off and on again. Though they might not have fixed it and I still needed to remove cloudflare DNS addresses in network a sharing center and remove password protected sharing. DNS might not have been the issue since they are not connected to a ISP and I had added the DNS months before I tried to do this stuff because the main router DNS was misconfigurated and it still worked fine in the shop. Anydesk was working on a mobile hotspot and I did not change the DNS on the router since all other devices connected via repeaters and I did not get the credentials from the ISP during the first and last support call if you are curious about how anydesk worked without internet and how all other devices were access ing the internet without changing the DNS on all devices
