donuts236723y@ScriptCoded windows was in between... And well last time I checked most PC apps and games don't work on Linux?
-
donuts236723yWithout booting a windows vm... Like how Win10 needed a unix subsystem..
So actually will Win 11 still need to do that... -
@donuts I only play PUBG and Rust on Windows, most other games work well with Photon. And as long as you don't use things from Adobe or Autodesk you're pretty much fine on that front as well.
-
It’s the same fucking windows just looking different ffs. Have you heard of regedit? Master it and you have all the customization you need, since win 98!
-
donuts236723y@petergriffin yes tried that and with every update, Windows/Google Chrome puts whatever I disabled back by adding a new key value
-
Is this going to be a forced update?
FUCKING ASSHOLES MUTHERFUCKERS UPDATED MY WINDOWS 10 TO SHIT 11!
Just mentally preparing. -
sariel84473y@Demolishun if that's the case, I guess I'll pirate Windows so that updates don't work.
Checkmate assholes!
Then again, I'll just switch everything to use arch and have a shitty VM with GPU passthrough for all my windows software needs. -
@electrineer But Windows 10 is utter shit. "usable" is not how I would describe it. "nearly untolerable" is closer to the mark.
-
@electrineer If the rumours are true it will most likely be a Linux distro by then.
@donuts I'm not a gamer those days but over the year I've seen many Linuxers talking about the increased support of games on Linux distros, notably with the advancement in Proton. -
@donuts Trusted Platform Manager (just googled)
I am going to figure out how to turn this off on my computer.
Will turning this off screw up my windows 10 license? -
I'm almost certain that there will be a way to install w11 on non-TPM computers, at least a non-official way. Then the requirement would only apply to new machines, which makes more sense. It's also very likely that the requirement is in place to boost the sales of new machines, perhaps Microsoft made agreements with OEMs.
It makes me think that the root cause for the new version is possibly an agreement with OEMs to boost sales by planned obsolescence. -
Apparently there already is an easy way to bypass the check. I wonder if they will prevent that by the time of the official release.

A bunch of games run really well on Linux, the vast majority run fine but less efficiently. Those that still don't work mostly use kernel mode anticheat, so I would never download them on principle anyway.
Oh god.... no.... Why.... Looks like they gonna dumb down the ux and force defaults... Less customizable.... Like Apple...
Can I NOT upgrade....
