Working as a software engineer but: co-workers randomly walk into my office to ask me <<insert random IT problem (i.e. mouse not working etc.)>> while I'm deeply focused programming. Trying to close my office door results in co-workers backbiting...

Why can't they just go to the IT administrator who's work it is to handle their fucking problems?

Welcome to devRant . I feel you bro , I had the same problem with my first job , I was basically working in the same office with the IT Director (he was the only one maintaining the whole firm IT wise) but everyone would ask me to fix things as if I was there for that instead of developing new software and integrating the software they were using...

Hahaha, bro, this is just my pain. You know, I recently read a post about popular IT problems - https://serenoit.co.uk/top-8-it-pro... and realized that they did not include this one in their list. Constant distraction and not understanding the specifics of your work often becomes a problem. Recently I was asked if I can fix a microwave

Man, being a software engineer is wild… apparently, I’m also the office IT helpdesk now 😅. People just wander in like, “Hey, my printer’s acting up, can you fix it?” — while I’m 10 lines deep in code. Tried shutting the door once… suddenly I’m the bad guy in the office gossip saga.

Just read this list of the 100 most common IT problems

And honestly… “software engineer gets randomly pulled into every random tech issue imaginable” wasn’t on there. Someone even asked me to reboot their mouse with the seriousness of a life-or-death situation.

Sometimes I wonder if I should start handing out tickets like a real helpdesk 😎.
