Just wish I could swap a portion of my dev super powers for something more f’king practical like being able to do DIY or mix cement and lay bricks properly.
Every damn time there’s some small job to be done it turns into a god damn nightmare.
Anyone else as single skilled as me or can you actually do real world skills too?

In regards to in-house work, I do light plumbing and electricity stuff.

But I feel you in general. If an apocalypse was to happen tomorrow, we're practically useless.

@rantsauce Thankfully, the chances of that happening are extremely low, right?

I can change a plug and that’s about it.
Maybe if I ever get some spare time I might go and try to learn some basic trade skills.

But right now if the zombie apocalypse happens I think I would just concede and let the zombies get me.
Being good at .net and not half bad at fifa 21 does nothing when the power is out.

There is no job I can’t learn. Because I bought an older but at that time fancy car, I learn a lot about cars, painting, hardware programming and 3d printing.

Oh and a bit gardening so I can have a proper garage and gateway for my car.

    I'm basically useless.

(Around the house but also as a dev lol)

I am a certified diesel technician :P don't be afraid to learn different skills in other areas. Shit is always good, specifically considering how much money you can make through trade school.

I know of 2 welders and 1 diesel tech that make more money than my friends breaking their heads doing compiler development.

The diesel tech makes damn near as much as one physician that i am acquainted with working for intel doing CPU shit for them.

To be honest, it takes practice and you will likely fuck up a lot at the beginning, like any other craft. Just need to be persistent until you get decent.

Strangely, Youtube and internet is also your friend for that, but maybe not for very technical jobs.
