The confusion of 1024 or 1000 is not because there are two definitions for kilobyte, it's because there are kibibytes which most people don't know by name. -
@BartBB and thats the reasin your 500gb hdd doesn't show as 500 but something like 470. Because windows uses gibibytes

I'm fully aware, my point was that most people do not even know of the concept "kibibyte".
I still think the whole kilobyte/kilobit thing is stupid. Who thought it was a good idea to name it this way....
