So do all of you have own built websites (of you) to show your skills, self-marketing and so on?

I'm still figuring out a way to display skill sets. So far a harmonica menu seems legit

Yes. I use Hugo and host on GitHub pages but it's still important to have one.

Just a follow up on this. Five minutes after my previous comment I had someone contact me through my website about a job. So again I say yes it is very important.

I agree, very important. You have to sell yourself.

I thought so.. So better programming a site of my own , than using shit like WordPress, Joomla and so on? So clients can see that u are skilled in building web pages right?

You can custom build a site using WordPress or joomla as your CMS...

@Treighton is that without html, css, Js, jquery like "building blocks"? Cuz that's not what I would prefer

No. I work for an design studio currently, the majority of the sites we build have WP as the cms. (I'm a PHP developer) they have lots of custom features built on top of WP. Also WP has a REST API so in theory you could use WP as the cms with a completely decoupled frontend
