Windows has its quirks as well.
After some coding (VS) the only working key is esc(minimizing currently focused app).
A reboot fixes it.
Happens on borg w7 and w10. -
Baspar518ySafety first: remove this logger (that didn't detect your Desktop Environment it seems) and fall back to the good old startx. When you'll be less in a hurry, try to check what's going on with the bad boy ;)
-
Try using the good old Ubuntu. I wanted something else, but this works best, soo...
-
Yeah Linux is a bit of a rebellious penguin. S/He(don't assume folks!)
You really have to find the right distro.
Because startx still works, I won't move, but if Manjaro pulls something like this again... 🐧🔫 -
Natrocx408y@poster983 my friend if you have 30 free minutes make yourself a clean Archlinux install.
-
GreenHat1258yU serious? Something does not work in f*cking Arch and you are done with Linux?
Pro-Tip: Install a usable distro. Like Ubuntu. Or Suse. Or Fedora. Or every other distro except f*cking Arch. -
@GreenHat here's the ironic thing. I've used Ubuntu as my main go-to os for a long time (3 years).
It sounds like @Artemix and I have had the same problems with ubuntu. After 6 or 7 updates, startx refuses to run.
The reason I'm pissed is that I moved to Manjaro to see if it would work better(it did. I installed it last year in may.) But, I over reacted a bit. Oh well.
Luckily, with this Manjaro install, I was able to recover. And found the problem (probably).
So all is not lost!
Also, I tried fedora a few years ago and I hated it. But I was new to linux and a very nieve.(and still am) I should try it again. -
Had same problem twice, on one occasion I was able to fix it by installing updates though the updates were not downloading at once, I had to go through many cycles of typing update command and restarting pc just to find whole update wasn't downloaded. This happened when I tried to install kde 5.8 version on Kubuntu

@poster983 did you check out the journal? Sounds like its got a problem running the xinitrc. I'm guessing its because you have an encrypted home but thats just an guess from startx working
-
r4nter6968yIf you are not comfortable with routinely fixing your OS, don't use "bleeding edge" distros but more stable ones like Ubuntu.
There's a reason why they're rolling out updates slower... -
using arch linux for about 2 1/2 years on some raspis and odroids, my workstation, nas and laptop and never had a real problem that wasn't related to my own stupidity.
am i just a lucky guy? ☺ -
Natrocx408yIf you take your time to install plain arch manually you are probably never ever going to run in a problem which isn't solved by 10 minutes of research. Whereas I cannot say that for Ubuntu, Fedora, Opensuse, Debian, gentoo, Manjaro and the likes...
Had some very strange problems with all of these and you never know what just broke.
And I have never had a problem with Arch so far except of me messing up the UUIDs in the fstab :D
I used to love Linux.
Now I hate it. I'm moving back to windows.
6th fixing time it's done this to me. When I try to login it just sends me right back to the login screen.
CTRL +ALT +F2 let's me login?!
Ugg I have a school paper to write.
So.. I moving back to the dark side.
This is what I get for trying out arch I guess.

someone save me
i hate linux now
