Rexzooly3538yNot sure about the US ATM's but almost if not all ATM's in the UK are using a embeded version of windows many still using the XP flaver, But its not just the software what's out of date on them things, there hard drives/ mostly compact flash drive die alot and you get the no boot devcies and many still use old crt montors and the colours have gone so the screen is green or other fun colours.

RTRMS37898yAll atms use Windows, they meant to be running a minimum of 7 now, something about security issues, personally I feel issue starts with Windows, as it has no security.

Rexzooly3538y@RTRMS To this date I not seen any on 7 yet, but the newer bank units might be now on 7 but the older ones are deff still XP just the other week I saw about 5 crashed and all XP units.
Windows says its this and that, but if you can make your OS isolated or read only from the connections spywear and hacks would only ever work until the system is rebooted, and its possible they just don't do it, its cheaper to be foolish. -
RTRMS37898y@Rexzooly in South Africa at least 1 Bank upgraded all of thier atms to 7. They replaced them all with upgraded unresponsive and frustrating touch screen ones. I think they kept the old hardware, upgraded the OS and swapped out the screens, cuz they are terrible.

Rexzooly3538y@RTRMS I have seen one touch screen one in the UK was slow as hell, might of been a test unit to test it here, not seen another in about a year or so.
When you need money, but ATM uses windows 😶
