I'm struggling to see a situation where pushing the volume buttons is more convenient than swiping.

Wack61918y@spongessuck holding your phone in one hand and just pushing one button instead of moving the screen some pixels and stop in the right place. Seams more convinient to me.

byte32818yWith some phones (like LG G2,etc.) Its very convenient as they have volume buttons on the back
This makes the feature very useful for one handed operation.
This can also be set up to allow swipes on fingerprint sensor

On the 9Gag Android app, you can "scroll" up and down by using the volume up/down, if the music isn't playing. (I think you have to enable this in the setings).
I find this quite convinient, and would love to this here too.
