Short: Still supported after 10 years

First Chromebook sent to testers.

Long: Lost my voice recently so need to use text to speech on my phone but to many typos so slow...

If only I had a keyboard... Wait a laptop... Hm... Chromebook...

Looks for cheapest on Amazon

But go.... Wait I already have one.... That I installed Ubuntu on and then somehow corrupted.

And never got around to fixing it because didn't really need it... Or have a 8gb USB stick around at the time.

Well now I saved $100 assuming the battery still works too

    Can't install apps though... So it's a outdated chrome browser

    Maybe it's possible to install some Linux distro on those

    @theabbie not worth it, too slow. Had Ubuntu before, took forever to load and open apps...

    And well that was 10yrs ago

    @donuts Ubuntu is not exactly a lightweight distro.

    @donuts I have a thinkpad x230 from about 10 years ago.
    I changed the hard disk to an SSD and the rest is still what came from factory.
    Installed various distro to try them out, but after a while I sticked to Kubuntu (still, not quite a lightweight distro)

    It loads the whole OS in about 20s and I can use the browser after about 10s from the home screen loading.

    So MAYBE you could just change the Hard Disk to SSD and you might be ok with that computer!

    My chromebook lost support a couple years back and it's newer than this. It runs Linux well with custom uefi bios, as long as you don't open too many Firefox tabs or run out of disk space.
