I was debugging my UDP server and client for 3 hours until I realized our school network has a firewall which blocks my connections.

    And for good reasons. You could ask IT though for an exception though.

    @nbamaral it wasn't even an out going connection it's all local

    Well that's less reasonable, but it does stop local peer-to-peer (even old Skype used to try that) and spurious netbios name resolution
    Can you connect your own dumb switch? Un unmanaged model, between you and the lan :)

    @nbamaral yea my teacher allowed me to connect some pcs with a switch and finally it all worked great.
