P3t3r66599yWhat would the interview be about? Like, what would be some of the topics of the questions?
-
@P3t3r6 the questions would be informally about how you got into your career. The path you took to get there
What an average day at work looks for you
Stuff like that
Also I should mention that I don't get home till after 7 so it would have to be after that time or on a weekend -
P3t3r66599y@jester5537 yea I'd be down for that... I'm not really in the work industry for a long time tho... I'm still trying to figure things out myself, so I might not be much of a help...
-
@P3t3r6 well for the assignment I think I should speak to someone who's been in the industry for a while but I'd be glad to talk to you for my own knowledge
-
lucanos1269yI might be able to help. I'm a freelance web dev located in Australia. I've been coding (as a job) for almost 15 years now, including full-time jobs in inhouse teams as well as for agencies.
Time difference could be a good or a bad thing (UTC +10). My Skype handle is lucanos_aus -
P3t3r66599y@lucanos Oh, please Master! Teach me the crafts of our art, as I'm still a young and vulnerable Freelancer trying to make it out in this dangerous, scary, wild lands of "being on your own". 😅
-
P3t3r66599y@lucanos no, but seriously now, from those 15 years, how much have you been freelancing for?
-
lucanos1269y@P3t3r6 First secret: None of us are masters - we're all still learning. Anyone who says they know everything knows nothing. Humility is a core characteristic to a good coder. Maybe better said as "Confident Humility" - "I am not sure how I will do it, but I'm going to figure it out."
If you're wanting to do a chat on Skype, feel free to reach out and we can arrange a time. -
lucanos1269y@P3t3r6 Out of 15 years, I have spent roughly half in, half out - 10 years in full-time work either coding or with coding being part of the role. 10 years freelancing/contracting. I had a 5 year overlap in the middle as I transitioned.
-
P3t3r66599y@lucanos "I'm not sure how I will do it, but I will figure it out" I actually recently said exactly that (in my language ofc) to a client. And in general, I like to try and have that attitude :)
About Skype, Thanks man! I won't bother you, but that was really nice of you. I try to read some stuff online, from more seasoned freelancers, and entrepreneurs and all of that... -
@lucanos that would be awesome if you an help and you're being a freelancer could lead to a more interesting conversation since you'd have more experience in a variety of environments
Ummm we can see about working around the time differences
If you can email me at jesfable@gmail.com (my throw all and minor software update email) at some point we can see about arranging a time that works
