    Youtube itself is guilty of this.

    Also the censoring going on with most major social platforms. Now they are all echo chambers for imbeciles (Twitter).

    @Frederick this particular XKCD probably applies to a lot of the kinds of people you’re talking about

    Look at the comments first - if there are none and the stuff isn't fresh, you generally don't want to watch/read/listen to it.

    Like/dislike ratio is also a telltale sign: Too low obviously is bad - but too high reeks of heavy moderation and/or bubble content - both are a bad sign too.

    @Oktokolo The like/dislike ratio is no longer visible, thanks to big brother google. He really does know what’s best for me, so I watch as many ads as I possibly can. Fortunately, he makes that really easy. He really does have my best interest at heart, as long as that interest is making him as much money as possible.

    @Oktokolo are you the guy who complains about spoiler comments

    @Root
    Wait, ads still exist?

    Nope. I am pretty spoiler immune. And you don't have to actually read the comments, just look whether they are there.

    It is just a precheck heuristic. If it takes more time than skipping the intro, you are probably doing it wrong.
