sariel85313yYou can't be that old of a punk if you trusted the mega corp over a popshop.
You can trust corporations to do one thing, and one thing only.
Make sure that orphan grinding machine keeps on grinding. -
Old-punk103yIf you ever get in situation like me. I suggest you to first get retention offer letter from your company before accepting any verbal offers
-
You didn’t wait to have it written on paper? 😳
I don’t know what is the worst part: your mistake or the people in HR that are probably making fun of you.
Are you still in touch with the other company at least? Or did you ruin the relationship with them? -
sariel85313y@Old-punk verbal offers are trash.
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get it in writing. And if they hesitate one iota, drop them immediately.
A company that hesitates to get what they're promising in writing will throw you under the bus on your first day. They cannot be trusted.
They might blow smoke and say shit like, "I'll need to get management approval." Don't sign anything else, don't waste your time, not until they have provided proof that they're going to deliver on that promise.
It's a negotiation, and the workers are losing. -
cho-uc19623yI thought that the general advice is to never accept a counter offer...
If they do appreciate you working there then you will never have to job seeking somewhere else right?
I work in huge corporation. Got an offer for smaller company and gave 2 week notice. My corporation offered me better base salary and retention bonus to stay. I accepted (mistake) and now they are not coming back with retention bonus or salary increase. I found out they did same trick with different person. Wtf... huge corporation is doing those kind of shenanigans?
