I need a powerhouse laptop: top CPU, loads of RAM and a decent GPU to run games occasionally (doesn't have to be ultra high graphics). Any brand recommendations? I love building computers, but buying laptops is really overwhelming.

Or should I just get a desktop instead? I already have a laptop that suits my daily needs, but it's getting pretty worn and outdated.

    Dell Inspiron 15?

Lenovo, MSI and Asus. The latter two you prolly know their quality and recognition from desktop pc's, but Lenovo is right up there in quality. I wouldn't ever buy any other brand.

But if your laptop needs are fulfilled then get a desktop, it's cheaper and more reliable :)

The Dell xps series are really nice set of laptops now... Portable and good grunt if you get some of the upgrades... Skip the gimmicky touchscreen to save some money though

As others have said above, dell xps is a really good choice

Isn't Dell too expensive in comparison to other labels with the same specs?

@SHA-256 but you can't take your desktop back and forth from your school everyday.

@Dacexi He said he already had a laptop though :)
And you don't want to take a Gaming Laptop to school anyways this things aren't the lightest

I made the custom PC and it's more expensive than I expected 😂 I really can't decide between a desktop and a laptop. Thanks for the help though.

I got myself a Lenovo Y700, Windows for gaming and Arch for coding. Everything works but the sub-woofer in Linux...
