Why is the promotion process fucked up? I can't take it anymore.

    Real world promotion process in a nutshell: Work at a company for some years. Then get a rise by changing to another company. Repeat.

    Companies just don't want to keep their workers as they get more skilled. The really love to have fresh workers spending unproductive time learning the company's projects and hate when stuff gets done. So they never promote their staff to incentivice them going somewhere else - maximizing that sweet unproductive leraning time...

    @Oktokolo it's disturbing that, this trend is being more and more widespread. Until last year, I was under the impression that, I would have to keep my head down and just complete a few customer facing projects out to production. I was scratching my head over why that didn't happen.

    But then I learnt from a few senior folks in confidence that, my manager isn't the best person to be under for promo discussion, as she doesn't step up and fight for her team.

    @beefdead: If your manager has to fight to get you a promotion, the problem is somewhere above her in the hierarchy.
