And that my lil DevRant duckies is the reason why la me, la grumpy mama, always says that work time is not private time...
SSKM - Selbst schuld, kein Mitleid.
Own fault no pity in english. -
This is a good example for the resource asymmetry between companies and single humans: While the company just needed to give a case to their house lawyer, that one dev might be financially ruined for life.
For exactly that reason, you should always do private stuff on private hardware and quit immediately after a labor dispute - especially if you won. Corporations have no emotions - but lowly managers do. And some of them will go out of their way to ruin your life. Also: Get legal insurance before suing over a labor dispute. You sure don't need it for the labor dispute. But as this example shows, you might need it after you quit... -

But then, acquiring the business they got the output they were lacking the first time…
So the output was not low…
So they fired him the second time, but the first was time was not legit…

I worked someplace once that fired a person for lack of quality output. Before that he sued the company over a labor dispute. After they fired him he went and founded his own business. A year later the company decided to recycle his old laptop to another developer and discovered the source code and business prospectus on it. The company took it to court and said it was actually their business because it was created on its own equipment and the time stamps confirm during business hours also. Courts agreed and they got possession of his business and then fired him again.
