@penguwin dude...So many, the majority of software used by professional services outside the tech world is proprietary. In construction we used dozens of proprietary applications, same for all medical software, accounting software, marketing software, engineering software etc...

@Treighton probably every application in hospitals is proprietary as well

@athlon security by obscurity is bad practise. Software can be reverse engineered, so don't rely on keeping your code proprietary as a means of security.
The general notion, in fact, is that open source software is more secure, because bugs and holes are easier to spot and get fixed.
