PHP is really not more demanding than Java. It's more prevalent as a backend technology, sure, but I'd say that Java is a more demanding language; you have to actually know what types things are as much as anything else.
That said... I'd say it's worthwhile to at least be familiar with the basics of PHP if you want to get in to back-end programming, then once you know a bit move on to something better, but still widely used, like Python or Ruby. -
itch9624038y@Zaphod65 i too thought that Java is more demanding than PHP but here in India, all the fullstack jobs that i see, see no reference to java.... All ask for php, magneto and stuff.... Bumm3d me out.
-
@itch96 apply for the jobs anyway, almost all the syntax and almost of the semantics are the same in the object models for both languages. If you can do Java then PHP is easy.

Look bro, I have tried all of those (not an expert tho) and I have learned something, you could learn any language and as long as you are good in it there will always be work, but you have to think about what are your goals for the future? And do whatever it takes to get there, hence learn the programming language that gets you there. I don't like PHP, but whenever I'm required to use it I'll because my goals have need for it.
Hope it helps -
@Cyanite it is very very helpul on team projects, in fact could be of great use if you have a team for the game you proposed
Coz a question like this in SO will get me banned......
I know HTML, CSS, JS, React in frontend.
I know Java as backend including database connectivity and all.
Should i learn a more demanding backend language lile PHP?
Or should I further learn frontend technologies like Angular, D3.js, and other frameworks?
