Managers on Slack at 08:30: Hey frontendJunior, can you accept that meeting for 09:00?

frontendJunior: * No response *

Managers: * Clueless why nobody would see a ping literally 30 minutes before a meeting *

Fullstackclown, watching it all unfold: lol 🤡

    Heh, I understand the junior.

If management scheduled the meeting with proper notice, it’s all fine; I’ve already planned by day around it. 30 min before, I’m probably visiting the bathroom and finding something to eat, so I’m not going to be at my desk to answer anyway.

Now, if they just scheduled the meeting with that little notice, and something isn’t on fire, screw them. Guaranteed, it will ruin my focus and work plans for that part of the day, and I will only attend if it’s mandatory. Scheduling errors are not emergencies, etc. But also: if I’m focused and not expecting anything, I genuinely might not see the ping.

Moral of the story: respect other people’s time (and schedules) by planning ahead.

@Root Oh, I am totally in the junior's shoes as well here. I am laughing totally at management. I'm sick of their last-minute notifs and meeting books expecting a positive result.

I'm trying as hard as I can be to be one of those seniors who lifts up every dev possible, not beat them down.

I guess it didn't really come out in this post, but the point was I felt bad for frontendJunior, and couldn't help laughing at the incompetence of said "management"
