I just love it to giggle at "hackers" in movies/series.

"He used an ARP to 'crack' the hostname of the server"
And then a countdown when the Server is hacked...

    I use ping 127.0.0.1 to locate my home. Don't judge.

    @Demolishun don't you mean traceroute? Ping just tells how far you're from home.

    @electrineer they are both ICMP. Not sure whether the ICMP type is any different

    @electrineer I run ping 3 times to do echo location.

    @TheCommoner282 this is madness

    @KDSBest Nah.

    Madness looks different.

    To the hacker stuff in movies.

    My ex boyfriend usually just put a pillow on my face whenever a computer screen popped up (I was laying down, head on his legs while he was sitting)...

    ... He called it the "anger management pillow".

    Because what is shown in some movies is so far from reality that I sometimes really started cursing... Disturbing the movie etc.

    But come on: Hacking the Wifi from across the country via telnet?

    That fucking hurts.

    My favorite is when they are "hacking" something and if you pause to look at the screen it's just some html code loading google analytics.
