Microsoft will add Ubuntu to its windows store, which will help installers to use linux tools on top of its system. Fuck you Microsoft, fuck you.

I don't understand why everone is posting "ms loves linux" meanwhile everything ms does is just "improving" its os by merging linux into it and not doing anything in return.

@orkhanfarmanli They're almost certainly contributing updates to upstream.

You lot are unbelievable. Microsoft brings Linux to Windows (which you've all wanted for soooo long, just like Cygwin tried to do) and now you're fucking moaning about it.

Shut the fuck up you bunch of miserable cunts. You literally cannot be pleased.

Microsoft could scrap Windows completely and release a Linux based OS, you'd still find a way to criticise it purely based on the fact that it's made by Microsoft.

    Grow up.

Why exactly are you hating MS now?
  • 7
@tahnik Duh! Obviously because they added something that will help people!

GOD! THOSE BASTARDS! WHY WOULD THEY DO SUCH A NICE THING?

Most if not all of Microsoft's contributions to the Linux kernel are about supporting running Microsoft Windows in a virtualization context under Linux. This is pure business.

Oh you have powershell written in your profile, I won't argue far ☺
  • 1
    @orkhanfarmanli Good shout.

Finally a Linux user that speaks sense.

Oh, but I guess you knew PowerShell is available on Linux and macOS now, right?
  • 2
Yes I know. But I've never seen anybody use it instead of bash.
  • 1
@orkhanfarmanli Probably because they've always used Bash.
  • 0
No, that's because bash is universal.
  • 0
@orkhanfarmanli what's the problem with having powershell in his profile? And what do you mean by bash is universal?
  • 2
@orkhanfarmanli ? PowerShell is too. Great argument. 👌

@drRoss Thank you for a voice of reason here. The amount of people here who hate on Windows just because it's hip to do so is ridiculous.
  • 3
@Jop- And who exactly claimed that?
  • 1
Is it for the bash thing?
  • 2
@drRoss I'm trying to understand this sentence "Microsoft brings Linux to windows (with you've all wanted for soooo long...)" , who wanted that exactly? 🤔

    @azous here's one!

I am completely dependant on windows because I'm a game Dev, and i need windows to test my games on ut, or generally play games. But i also really want to learn and work with Linux, but not in dual boot or through VM.

Not that i ever even dreamed of something like this happening, but I'm glad it is happening.

@azous Me too. The SSH client alone makes it great, and cURL for API debugging is awesome too.

@Jop- I love that the OP didn't mention the addition of Fedora and OpenSuSE too. https://techcrunch.com/2017/05/... Beware of altered news spreaders, kids!

@Jop- Your username got in there by accident. Ha.
  • 2
@Jop- no, I'm developing for windows. I want the linux on windows to just learn it!
  • 1
@Jop- if it was up to me i would even port it to mobile devices, but unfortunately the ceo thinks it doesn't worth the investment!
  • 1
@Jop- oh the game is good! I can't say anything about it yet, but it's awesome - at least we think so 😀
