Except that this forms the bad rep problem leading to extinction.
Cobol is still pretty much used, pretty high paid, cause a lot of systems depend on it.
Not fun to program in it at all.
JS is for me the same. It will be used still for a long time, but its evident that this language should be extinct instead.
It's just bad, hmkay. -
It parasitises development. Parasites are very short-sited and don't plan for anything. They don't evolve, they eat.

sariel85312y@vintprox you're missing the biggest problem with your analogy.
Sometimes the parasite kills the host, literally starves it to death.
😐 Think about that.
Here's a good question. If JavaScript was a parasite, what would it be? I'm going to say Toxoplasma gondii. What's so sinister about it is it won't kill you, just damage your brain enough so you're disabled forever. -
@sariel I forgot to put a context. "It" I mentioned is "a library that solves a problem that was created by author themselves".
-
sariel85312y@vintprox fucking genius.
A lib dependent on other libs that form a framework that is entirely dependant on one single lib that checks if 0 is a number.
🤯
I actually like that there's a new library every minute in js world.
more maintenance required means more demand for developers. planning our own survival, not obsolescence.
