I'm so sick of people calling wannaCry a ransom-ware!
It's just plain old virus to me

By that analogy you would say that a kidnapping is murder because the kidnapee is dead unless you pay the ransom....
WannaCry is to a normal virus what kidnapping is to murder... The same outcome if you don't pay.
Don't get me wrong, I think ransom is even worse

It is ransomware by any standard. However, whether or not you get your files decrypted after paying said ransom is another story. (Many didn't). You should read the Talos or MalwareTech articles on it...

And I'm sick of people calling Snickers a chocolate bar. To me it's just plain candy!

Well... Uhm..... Technically it's ransomware so I guess that's why it's called ransomware 😓

What other types of "something-ware" are there?
