8 hours for me is not the same as 8 hours for some junior guy. Really, for gods sake, junior guys don't even know how tell time yet.

My understanding of strict agile scrum planning is that estimates are supposed to start w a group consensus on points of "complexity" not hours, so different developers will take varying times on projects of equal complexity. Most places will just fall back on hours because the stakeholders don't think in those terms, they just want to know when they can promise delivery to clients/investors
