Seeing BYJU's and WhiteHat Jr losing millions in valuation makes me happy, as it was something I had predicted (Im not flexing btw).

The whole business model is dumb, teaching CHILDREN coding and teaching them how to make `apps` via online learning.

Students study Comp Sci for literal years before they even begin coding something useful, and even then there are so many professional developers walking around who barely understand the code that they write.

It's just natural selection at this point.

    Did they lose valuation? I couldn't find any news about it. Why are all the positive news stories less popular.

    it's a business, it's what market demands
    there's literally books for parents to teach kids coding, and how can u forget SCRATCH :v

    I get those companies are hated for their bad practices, but lets not pretend theres no demand for the product

    @azuredivay There is indeed demand for the product. But the whole premise of it defies human capacity to learn is what I am saying.

    You can't teach coding to an age demographic that barely understands basic maths. That's all.

    And yeah I do hate BYJUs.

    they are like a tape sticked to a crack on a dam about to overflow. the dam is the education system and its cracking hard, the quick fixes were these online edtech startups and offline coaching centers, but they cannot stand long

    Doesn't BYJU teach all sort of things, and it was never just programming? Their downnfall was caused by the end of pandemic and people prefer face to face learning after all.

    @Sid2006 thats why I mentioned "teach coding to kids" kinda books, their target demographic is kids 8+
    WHJ wasnt born to make kid-geniuses, it was to satisfy the ego of new-age parents who thought only their kid is smart (as most parents do) and NEEDS to get a head start, n WHJ made money out of it. Shit yes but it's here to stay. Whether kids benefit or not, doesnt matter to either the ones paying or the ones getting paid
