In an age of GitHub and cloud computing, how can a freelance dev using their own laptop be classed as a security risk?

These crude rules laid down by corporate IT depts just make companies look silly.

    @g-m-f That's not the point, I don't have network access (everybody uses google drive as it's easier anyway) so the contents of my laptop are irrelevant.

    If I'm a security risk or a bad actor why on Earth did they give me access to 35 GitHub repos. I'm either trusted or I'm not.
