Fuck this shit!

I got told off that i went home early yesterday by my manager.

This is how it went.

I made some inquiries to other team regarding specs and their service nearing the end of working hours.

I waited 30 minutes more after working hours because I see them online through internal messenger.

I said to myself 'how long do I have to wait?' I guess I can read their message tomorrow then.

I arrived this morning. Got told off during morning huddle. I checked the messages, they replied 1hr after I left. Do I have to stay and do nothing just to wait for their reply?

Fuck!

Why do some companies have start and end times... The fuck does it matter as long as the work gets done.

@penguin i know right. I finish the tasks for the day and half a day for tomorrow. I want to give myself some leeway for unforeseen problems. But with regards to communicating with other teams, i don't have a fucking clue when they'll respond. So i had to go home or else waste time and resources. Fuck.

@meister I wouldnt work for an authoritarian company that wants to control when I arrive and leave to the minute... Company's need your skills as much as you need their money :P

@penguin I agree with this, but there are days when working at the same time and in the same room as prod/design/etc makes sense. Having your questions answered on the spot makes it worth it, at least for one day out of the week.

@BrokeTheInterwe sure but this is why you plan. At my company the Dev team has a calender and in there we mark whenever we won't be in the office. It works very well.

@penguin but there are times when unexpected issues comes up. You wouldn't be able to anticipate these type of scenarios. Leaving a query by the end of the day, sometimes is ok. But my manager wanted me to stay and wait for the response for who knows how long til they respond.

@meister if it's an emergency then you should be able to VPN into the office or something. Regarding an important query, you have email outside the office right?
