An eventful day:
Because of my recent amateur thermopaste application onto a heatpipe that connects a laptop CPU and a discrete GPU and *ingenious* HP ProBook engineering my Radeon graphics have fried yesterday.

On the bright side, got the Nougat update for my Samsung S6, with bright hopes that it will help restore the state of an unresponsive fingerprint scanner... nope, that is still broken.

Summer is near, exams finished, time for some DIY on used and abused tech! :D

Sooo....thermal paste shorted out your GPU? Or did it over heat due to bad thermal conduction?

I'm not sure about the first, but the second is likely. I've been using the computer in a warmer place with less air conditioning for the past couple of weeks, and i'm not entirely sure about the quality of the thermopaste. Did maintenance a month ago, replaced and cleaned around the fan as well (temperatures got a little lower). I've been gaming a lot and the computer is now 5 years old. See HP ProBook 4530s, the one with switchable graphics. They've also got a terrible heatpipe setup.
One thing i might be doing is potentially buying some Arctic tp and reapplying to the CPU. Still haven't looked at anything if the GPU can be saved at all, knowing it's stuck to the board..
