Sorting depends on more factors than just the upvotes. I think the amount of comments and their ratings also count.

Based on feedback and voting habits, non-image posts get a slight boost. That's been the case since the first few months of devRant and we haven't changed the weighting since. It is something that we will look at in the future though as habits might change.
