I have this bad habit of never taking decisions without discussing. For risky, highly impactful decisions, ig this is a good approach, but when you are trying to be a host, or taking some very basic decisions like ordering food, or booking a time slot, i would ask opinion of all the parties involved.

I sometimes cross the line of being considerate to being bothering, irritating and unreliable with my debating nature.

I Don't know why but i for every situation i feel having a second opinion is necessary and good. For eg, Once i was my sister and our flight got cancelled due to bad weather.
I had to choose : either take the next available flight booked by the same airlines for free, which was around 26 hours later, or book the next flight from another airlines which was in 2 hours but costed twice. we were in a different state, and my middle-class/opportunity deprived brain was seeing a path for both choices, but i thought of consulting sis and she lost her mind. she got scared, she started regretting all our choices, the airway travels , everything.

if i had just taken the decision of going with the 2 hour late flight, i would hav saved myself from so much drama.

How to fucking man up in a decision making situation?

I guess you knew how your sister could react in situations like this no ?

Be the one make the decision.

Maybe others are better in this situation. But for me (as a dev) I always take logical decisions.

I ask myself, do i want to get there as soon as possible ? Yes : take the flight 2 hours later.

same as Grumm, as a dev I consider the known choises and weight the best logical or practical one in the given circumstances, depending on the time I have to make that choise.

@Grumm wherever there is money involved, people get all compromis-y . its our parents' values to consider saving money over everything and even sis's first thought was to make me go back and ask for any flights that are available for next 8 hours in exchange of our current flight (the free option) . this was a non sensical question since the flight staff had no other options apart from the 26 h flight.

the panic got started due to being in a strange city and no flight being available. and secondary choice of booking a gigh cost flight was looking even bad. i too was worried abit, but for the first time, my worries got doubled after sharing jnstead of getting halved

@dotenvironment I personally try to take the best of each misfortune. If I was on your place ( note that my gf is drama princess ) I would take the free flight and spend the time to learn and see as much as I can in this new and unfamiliar place I got stucked =]

@We3D that was my plan too. but my sis is a a big crime series watcher and they keep screaming "hotel murders" , "cab murders", "strange city murders" and god knows whatever in her brain, so not much of an adventurous personna

Kinda feel sorry for her. She is missing so much of the life w/h all her fears and self restraints. My mom recently told me that she never had hitchhiked in her life. She is probably a little jealous that I did that many times, but b/c of her fears she will probaly never do it, although she thinks it might be cool to do it

@dotenvironment Yes, I can understand that being in a strange city can be terrifying.

I am rather an introvert person. But stuff like that are very logic to me.

Is the extra waiting worth the money I could spend for the other flight ?

I understand that money can sometimes be an issue. But if that is the case, why taking the risk in the first place ?

Don't get me wrong, everyone should be able to travel as far as they can.

But in my case, I always count for delays, or even extra money to take an hotel if there is no other option. That way, you should have less stress if something bad happens.

I can totally agree. You shloud prepare for the worst, but expecting the best. And yes, you can't account every possible sotuation, but at least 1 backup plan and few extra cash for mind peace is never a bad idea IMHO =]
