i recently was applying for jobs and found that companies are doing this , but in reverse:
A : i find a good job listing without salary, i click it > it redirects to LinkedIn form asking for my current and expected ctc before submission. if my expectations are in their budget , i will get a call
B : some recruiter finds my profile somewhere, calls me, asls my expected ctc and tells me their budget if my asking is too high -

@MeowHeart In some lost appendix, they fixed that by introducing a visual dashboard where the KPIs of each Vala are updated once per century. Every 500 years, there's a VR (valar resources) review where possible career changes such as world dominance can be discussed early on.

hjk10157522y@MeowHeart can't say I agree with that. Here after the technical assessment your level is decided and there is a range that Congress with that. The ranges are transparent and told before you go in and do the assessment.
Obviously an expert will have quite a gap over a medior (we have junior, medior, senior, expert/specialist, leadership levels).
I do hate it when job descriptions don't give any indication at all. And I hate not being able to name the "market leader" company bs even more. -
hjk10157522y@MeowHeart yeah that I agree with is just bullshit. That is not even providing as much as a range a providing a direction with a 360° angle.
No way that is remotely the same position even with different experience/skill level.
I was just pointing out that, if not a specific skill level is indicated, it can be valid to have ranges larger than 25k. A 60-95k range for example. -
I would rather they get the job description right rather than bait and switch after you join. “You’ll be working on an interesting project but here is a 30yo code base that needs modernizing over the next 2 years.”
How many times have you started a new role and you spend the first few months doing courses of stuff you didn’t claim to have experience of on your resume? Maddening. -
I can see why they don't.
I assume one big reason is that the person hired last year for the same job would be bummed if they see a job listing showing more than what they got
(They might be stuck on a lower rate - even if they will get a raise, and it will be retroactive, the salary talk might not have happened yet)
Not saying it's a valid argument but just a thought

IMO, salary range must be mentioned with job descriptions!
A candidate investing so much time & efforts to pass through the entire interview process only to know that their compensation will be lesser than what they're currently paid is very frustrating.
