How to handle a manager who manages to find fault in everything you do ... Butt fails to acknowledge any of the good work

It's not like the feedbacks from his end are valuable , often times they are illogical and based on false assumptions

Is the behaviour from manager toxic ?

I end up getting uneasy everytime I hear a false superficial backhanded sarcastic remark on how and what I should have done differently

And when I really deliver something critical i don't even get an acknowledgement ... forget about compliment

Maybe I don't have a thick skin , maybe I'm taking the I'm a victim mentality here ... Maybe I should view everything with a more positive outlook ... but I really doubt if I'm at fault here

And I'm not sure if he's like this with other guys , but I suspect I'm the only one who's being treated like this ..

Should I "escalate" this to someone?

This is trip wire leading to falling in a claymore.

It's hard telling what's what without knowing you.

Maybe talk to a coworker you trust and *listen* to them. By talking I mean asking in a neutral way - no offense, no cursing, no swearing. A neutral point of view is important imho.

Then you should talk to your manager. Again. Neutral. No offense, no cursing, no swearing and especially no threats.

It's up to you to decide what you do after it. But I really disrecommend taking the HR route without a diplomatic approach first.

Sometimes our conception of things is highly "biased"… sometimes not. Some people are more emotional, others more rational. A rational person tends to be less biased, though might be "offensive" without realizing it (e.g. hyper rationality - when someone is debating without realizing that there is nothing up for debate... It gets messy soon. :) )

@Along I agree, leave and find a non-toxic environment to work in. You will thank yourselves later for it.
