The post button should say "Commit"

    or "push" xD

More like "push". Commit would stay on your phone and when you press push, it would post all the rants commited. Actually, it could allow both. :)

@dfox what are you waiting for?

@pagongski true, there's a feature to save your rant if 2 hours haven't elapsed since the last rant posted. That is like waiting to push a committed rant. If rants are repost of each other those could be in conflict. To update rants displayed when opening the app, you'd have an option to checkout. And so on

sure it's gimmicky, but this isn't GitHub

@DarKneT Whoa. Now that explains why the title says "devRant" not "GitHub". Thanks captain, I always learn something. Tomorrow, teach me how to understand sarcasm and jokes please! Oh wait..

@DarKneT why github? Why not bitbucket? Why not gitlab?

    Thanks for spoiling the joke.

I agree to this brilliant idea.

NO. Just imagine yourself fixing merge conflicts after trying to edit a post

It would be really weird to have a button labelled "push", wouldn't it?
  • 1
Since devrant automaticaly "commits" your comment, the push would be cooler
  • 3
All poor people not using any VCS won't understand a thing though!

I'll go for commit or push, but then I want full source control over my posts and comments. I want to be able to fork others rants as well!

@simeg what a0e they doing on devRant then?
    :P
  • 1
Commit to submit, fork to favourite, push to share
  • 1
Haha. App development should seriously consider doing this.
  • 2
No, when you click post you're most likely performing a POST request which means calling it post is both easy to digest and has the "cool" double meaning thing. Calling it commit just doesn't make sense and sounds tacky, unless of course devRant was storing everything in some weird git based database thingy.. then it would be ok I guess
