@taylan personally I think it's cause most people think javascript and jquery is interchangeable. alot of 'developers' just learn jquery and say they know javascript. I usually ask people to find an element on a page using javascript without jquery to filter those out.

taylan3848y@jckimble i do know that. most mid level devs i've seen said they knew js even though all they knew was jquery. that's why i think interviewee mentioned in this rant is doing a good thing by saying he knows jquery but not js.

@taylan yeah I agree, if someone was actually smart enough to say that to me in a phone interview they would most likely be hired and I would be willing to teach them javascript
In an interview and the interviewee says he can code JQuery but not Javascript...
