I’m at that later stage of a career where pretty much everyone will ask themselves, “What am I even GOOD at anymore?”

If you don’t think it can happen to you, just wait.

I forget everything that I learned the hard way. It is second nature the competence for a lot of the work I do. So when I see someone who is smart and inexperienced struggling with something that seems obvious to me I realize there is a lot I know. Other times I find I am out of my league on certain topics. So that is a good reality check at times.

Sounds like you're at a low point in ur career.

Happens to everyone of us my man, just chill and focus on getting the job done.

I haven't been there yet, but I don't doubt for a second I'll get there.

I feel that probably the biggest challenge of being in the tech industry, especially software, is that it's growing so rapidly, and you can't ever just assume that you're experienced enough to just be employable forever. You have to keep up with the tech at least somewhat, or someone else will.

I'm still young enough to feel motivated to keep learning new things all the time, almost without break. I enjoy learning and trying out tech a lot. But at some point, at some age, I just know it will be too tiresome to keep up the pace and at that point I'll just have to pray that either I was successful enough that I'm set until the day I die, or that my lifelong experiences amount to enough still, that someone somewhere needs me at least until retirement.

Well, in the end things tend to work out just fine unless you just give up completely. Life is a struggle, but it would be boring otherwise
